The 2022 Canada Summer Games [delayed a year due to the pandemic] took place in the Niagara Region Aug. 6 – 21, involving over 5000 participants. For cycling, this involved both Mountain Bike [XCO, Team Relay, Eliminator] and Road [ITT, RR, Criterium]. The Men’s and Women’s Road Team arrived for week two of the Games, led by coaches David Jack and Julia Farell with mechanical support from Colton Woolhouse. Team Ontario opened the competition with a gold medal performance in the ITT from Lucy Hempstead. During the men’s road race, the sky opened up to heavy rain, making for challenging conditions. Fortunately, David Olejniczak could get into a break and sprint his way to a gold medal win. All members of the women’s and men’s teams are congratulated on their efforts and support of one another, contributing to their success.
