St. Albert, AB played host to the Canadian BMX Championships where a talented crew of Ontario athletes looking to find their way onto the podium. In the Elite Men’s race, Curtis Krey had some outstanding competition culminating with a gold medal performance. It was a flood of silver medals for Team Ontario with Jakob Kaiser (U23M), Zak Kaiser (U19M), Ashton Berends (15M), and Riley Pootmans (14W) finishing just off the top step in some highly contested races.
In the Canada Cup event, Malakai Bergeron battled to a 2nd place finish in the Junior Devo Men’s event with teammate Ashton Berends placing 7th after unfortunately going down early in the finals race. In the women’s Junior Devo race, Riley Pootmans finished 4th in her first year of eligibility in the category.
