Ontario BMX Academy

BMX Academy (Ages 15-22)

The goal of this program is to help prepare and develop athletes for success at national level competition with the objective of progressing into National projects and programs. Training sessions and projects are led and supported by expert coaches and sport science practitioners in the fields of nutrition, strength and conditioning, and mental performance. Club and athlete personal coaches may also be invited to attend these sessions.

 
Objectives

·       To bring Ontario’s strongest BMX athletes together to create a training environment that facilitates healthy competition and athlete growth

·       To provide athletes with frequent access to a world class BMX facility and structured training under the direction of certified and experienced coaches 
·       To provide athletes with off-bike training and support through sport science services including developing healthy habits for optimal performance 
·       To qualify Ontario athletes to represent Team Canada internationally at major BMX events
 

 

Rising Stars Program (Ages 12-14)

The Rising Stars Academy is designed to provide aspiring athletes with opportunities to develop the key skills and knowledge required for competing and exceling in BMX Racing. Rising Stars will train in the same environment as current Performance Program athletes which will provide them with several additional benefits. The program may also serve as an opportunity for talent identification.

 
Objectives  
·      To develop core BMX racing skills with specific emphasis on proper gate form, jumping, manualing, and cornering 
·      To introduce riders to off-bike skills including education on proper fueling for training and race days and basic strength and mobility training 
·      To establish a regular training group to build athlete to athlete support, foster healthy competition, and help to transition athletes into Ontario Performance Programming            in the next 1-3 years
