Tie Breaking Policy - Winspace Ontario cycling series

When two or more riders are tied at the end of a series, the following criteria and procedure shall be utilized by the OC office to determine which rider is awarded the higher place in the standings.

1) Most race wins in the series.
2) Overall Points Average (number of points divided by events attended).
3) Highest placing in commonly attended events (who placed higher in the standings when both riders attended the same events).
4) Highest placing in the last event of the series.

Prizing

Points will be awarded at each of the (5) events for all 8 categories offered and a multiplier on those points, will be offered to all who compete at the OC Crit Provincials. Updated standings will be posted the Tuesday after each event on the OC website.

The series finale will be hosted by OC at the Niagara Criterium Provincials in Dunnville where series winner of each category present at Provincials will receive a pair of Winspace Hyper Lun Wheels (value of over $2,000).

New for 2024

Participants in the 2024 Winspace Ontario Criterium Series, at the discretion of the event organizer,  will have the option to sign up and race in up to two races at each event.

Winspace Ontario Crit Series points collected in a category are non-transferable and may not be combined between categories. Only points earned in one event category may be applied to the overall series standings. Participants will need to have the right level of licensing to compete depending on their category selection.

For example:

  • 54-year-old male Category C racer may opt to race both the Cat C/D race as well as the following Master race.
  • Female rider that could race in the general Category C/D race then race in the women’s only event later in that day.

Please note that there will be no day of registration for additional races and refunds will not be given if rider decides not to race either of the two events.

** Discounts offered for registration in a second event, is at the organizer’s discretion.

Points

Points are awarded to the top 15 finishers in all categories, only riders who purchase their membership through OC are eligible to earn points. Riders who do not finish (DNF) are not entitled to points. Crit Series Champions will be decided by a tally of all the points earned at each Crit event and Provincial Championships for the current year. Top 3 overall in the series for each category will be awarded at Provincial Championships, winners must attend provincials or risk forfeiting their prize.
