Cobourg Cycling Club
The Cobourg Cycling Club is a “Good Place to Learn Cycling”. Founded in 1974, the volunteer-run organization supports riders of all abilities, from those new to group riding and looking to develop their cycling skills to those looking to test their limits in competitive time trial events.
The Cobourg Cycling Club provides a supportive environment for all its members, prioritizing safe riding practices and providing members an opportunity to connect with other local cyclists through various social events.
Joining cycling clubs like CCC is an excellent way to improve fitness, learn new routes, and build a community of local cyclists. From beginner cyclists to long-time riders, CCC shares some advice on finding the right cycling club for you:
- Find a club with the same goals as yours – is your primary focus social connections or testing the limits of your fitness; most clubs have a mix of both
- On your first ride, join a group that rides a little slower than you to learn the dynamics of the group – this allows you to get to know the club without the pressure of being physically exhausted
- Learn the group’s “drop” policies and pacing structures – many clubs offer group rides at varying speeds to help you find your best fit, and some groups will be “no drop” rides, meaning the group will stop or slow down to keep all riders together
Cobourg Cycling Club provides an environment for skill enhancement through structured activities and mentorship opportunities. Safety is prioritized by CCC through enforced safety protocols, and access to route maps prior to starting each ride through the quiet, rural roads of Cobourg. If you are looking to improve your cycling fitness while building social connections with like-minded riders, Cobourg Cycling Club might be for you!
