BMX Academy – Applications Open

The goal of this program is to help prepare and develop athletes for success at national level competition with the objective of progressing into National projects and programs. Training sessions and projects are led and supported by expert coaches and sport science practitioners in the fields of nutrition, strength and conditioning, and mental performance. Club and athlete personal coaches may also be invited to attend these sessions.

Program Details:

  • 10 sessions at Pan AM BMX Track
  • Concussion baseline
  • Strength and Conditioning programming and access to gym space at CSIO
  • Nutrition Support
  • Academy jersey
  • Video analysis
  • SRM Testing
 
2025 Program Dates – Saturdays 9AM-11AM
 
  • May 3, May 24, May 31
  • June 7, June 14, June 21
  • July 5, July 26
  • August 2, August 9

Program Cost: Approximately $300

 
Application and Selection Process

All athletes must complete an online application here to express their interest in being part of the 2025 BMX Academy.

Automatic Selection Criteria:

1) Athletes selected into 2024-2025 OHPSI Program

2) Athletes selected to attend a Cycling Canada project in 2024-2025

Additional Athletes:

Based on strength of application with consideration towards:

a) Performance results at Canada Cups and National Championships
       i) Top 8 result at 2024 Canadian BMX Championships*
       ii) Top 5 result at 2024 Canada Cup*

 

*Number of riders and depth at competition will be taken into consideration

b) Demonstrated commitment to progressing in the sport of BMX
       i) Training under the direction of a coach
      ii) Following a structured training plan

c) Demonstrated ability to perform the following:
     i)  Jump Pan Am second amateur straight
     ii) Beginning to jump SX 8m start hill
    ii) Manual rhythm section

d) Other performance results (BMX Canada, etc.)

 
Additional Notes:
  • Athletes must demonstrate commitment to full-time training alongside a detailed YTP (yearly training plan) with a NCCP Certified Coach
  • Maximum of 10 athletes between the ages of 15-U23 will be selected
  • Consideration towards Gender Equity
