
Team Valley Velo is excited to announce it will partner with Ontario Cycling and deliver the Hop On Program in the Hamilton area for cycling youths.
HopOn is a game-based program for youth to develop on-bike skills. This program was adopted by Cycling Canada from Cycling BC and is considered the “national standard” when teaching basic cycling skills to youth. The curriculum has 5 levels of adaptability to meet the needs of the participants’ skill level. Skills that are developed through this curriculum of game-based activities include but are not limited to helmet & bike check, braking, ready position, turning/cornering, front-wheel lifts, tilts & dismounts, one-hand riding & partner riding.
Team Valley Velo is a Hamilton based road and track racing team that develops cyclists in a positive environment using knowledgeable coaches and leads experienced in decades-long cycling rides and races. Team Valley Velo’s mission and vision to create supportive spaces and race opportunities for the long-term development of cyclists that strongly connectw with the aims of the Hop On program.
The program will run June 8,11, 17 and 25 in two-hour length after school sessions from 6:00-8:00pm. HopOn Instructor and Certified NCCP Facilitator, Julia Farell will deliver the skills and fun games-based curriculum for 7-9 year old youths.
This program requires an Ontario Cycling Community Membership.
