The 2026 Canadian Road/Para-Road Championships were held in St. Georges, Quebec June 25 – June 28 featuring the individual time trial, road race, and criterium events. Riders were exposed to a variety of conditions during the weekend from blue skies to torrential downpours while also navigating a challenging road race course featuring a variety of climbs and fast descents. .
Ontario athletes had a great championships starting with the time trial where they captured 12 medals including 3 national titles from Maartan Duif (MH1), Josh Tyers (U17M), and Derek Gee (Elite M). The U17/Junior Women’s Road Race forced the athletes to display resilience and grit as the rain was relentless throughout the majority of the 77.1km race. However, Ontario athletes were up to the challenge placing 3 athletes in the top 5 of the U19 race and 4 athletes in the top 6 of the U17 race. Elly Moore took the silver in the U19W while Anna Christensen (silver) and Charlotte Caners (bronze) took 2 podium positions in the U17 race. Shortly after the U17/U19 race, a hard-fought Men’s event saw Luke Valenti place 2nd overall in the U23/Elite race.
Saturday started with the Para-Road race where Ontario athletes captured 5 medals including national titles from Maarten Duif (MH1) and Luka Senfner (MC5). In the U17/U19 Men’s race, Josh Tyers came close to making it a 2nd gold medal but fell just short taking the silver in the U17 race. The U23/Elite Women’s race had an exciting sprint finish with Dylan Baker winning the bronze in the U23 event.
The Canadian Road Championships wrapped up with the criterium races which saw Jayden McMullen win the national title in the U23/Elite Men’s race. In the Women’s races, Kaitlyn Rauwerda (U23/Elite) and Alex Fangeat (U17/U19) took home bronze medals.
