Coach Conference Speaker Confirmed: Kevin Iwasa-Madge

Determining athlete fueling needs is a complex problem. Fuel usage is dictated by a number of factors, including: exercise intensity and duration; exercise type; diet history, acute pre exercise diet, and current energy stores; fitness level; and more. So how can you determine your athlete’s fueling needs? And what is the coach’s role when it comes to fueling recommendations? This session will explore the various factors that influence fuel usage, and how to make effective fueling recommendations to optimally support your athlete’s health and performance.

Kevin is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, ISAK – Level 2 Accredited Anthropometrist, and a High Performance Certified Member of Sport Scientist Canada. Kevin is a former member of the National Wrestling Team, has nearly a decade of experience as a college professor, and has worked with many sports at the provincial, national, and international level, including wrestling, judo, karate, weightlifting, rugby, swimming, canoe kayak, and cycling. Kevin currently works as a sport nutritionist and strength & conditioning coach at the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario, working with both Ontario Cycling and Cycling Canada.

The 2023 conference invites coaches that work within High Performance & Competition Development athlete streams to attend. Presented by leading experts from Canadian Sport Institute Ontario, the areas of Sport Physiology, Sport Nutrition & Strength & Conditioning will be discussed along with the application of sport science and key concepts into coaching practices.
