The skills and tactics course provides an “on-bike” learning opportunity to coaches working with newly competitive cyclists at the club or community level. These athletes are likely to be in the Learn to Train or Train to Train Stages of Long-Term Athlete Development.
This workshop focuses on teaching road riding skills and knowledge to identify and correct errors in skills performance. Coaches will also understand how to analyze stages in the performance of mountain bike cycling skills and can explain activities and provide feedback, in a way that is consistent with the guidelines set for the age group within the cycling LTAD model. Lastly, coaches will learn how to prepare athletes for competition by assisting them to follow pre-race and post-race plans including preparation of equipment, nutrition, and tactical and mental preparation.
