Youth athlete development is a complex phenomenon. Young athlete’s performances can improve for a number of reasons, including: rates of growth and maturation, energy system development, skill acquisition, tactics, effort level, and more. But how do we know if these improvements are sustainable through a young athlete’s career? And what is the role of the parent in this development process? This session is designed for parents and supporters of young athletes. From foundational principles of development to specific skills such as grocery shopping, laundry, and hygiene, this session will dive into the positive roles parents can play in the youth athlete development process.
