Project Objectives

• To provide coaching and support for identified U17 & U19 athletes to allow them to perform to their highest potential
• To place athletes in the top 3 in all U17 and U19 categories
• To provide developing athletes with a high level race opportunity and experience racing under pressure
• To ensure a positive presence for Ontario

Team Composition

All athletes, regardless of the number, meeting the automatic criteria (and minimum requirements) will be selected to the team.

If there are less than three (3) athletes selected using the automatic criteria, additional athletes (up to maximum of 2) may be selected using the criteria indicated.  Any exceptions will be at the discretion of the HP Committee. 

Requirements

• Athletes must attend the nationals preparation camp July 6-7 (Barrie/Orillia area)
• Athletes must wear the Team Ontario jersey for all competitions
• Athletes are required to register themselves for all races and indicate that they are racing with Team Ontario [club/team/sponsors are permitted to be indicated as Team Ontario/club name]

Selection Events

• Canada Cup#1: Hardwood
• Canada Cup#2: Mont TremblantCanada
• Cup#3: Baie-Saint-Paul

Selection Criteria

Minimum Requirements:

• Athletes must participate in a minimum of two (2) selection events [exceptions may be considered due to athlete injury/illness or other extenuating circumstances]
• Athletes must be hold a 2024 UCI licence issued by Ontario

Automatic Selections:

• U19 Athletes with a top 5 placing at a selection event
• U17 Athletes with a top 3 placing at a selection event

Additional Athletes will be prioritized as follows:

• Average placing based on the best two (2) results from the listed selection events above
• In a situation where there is a tie among the athlete results, the highest placing result will be used to break the tie
• Should a tie continue to exist, the decision will be made by the HP Committee with consideration towards the following in priority order:
  1. Athlete performances at 2024 OCups
  2. Athlete performances at other MTB events outside of Ontario
  3. Athlete involvement in Ontario Cycling camps (Rising Stars, Performance Camps)
