Have you ever taken your Mountain Bike up north to visit the Soo?

Sault Ste. Marie has a lot to offer. One of the main attractions, though, is their network of mountain bike trails. Just ten minutes from downtown, with access to city amenities and the beauty of well-maintained trails, makes the Soo the perfect mountain biking destination. In 2023 Tourism Sault Ste. Marie, with the support of the Province of Ontario, the Government of Canada, and the City of Sault Ste. Marie is investing $2.3 million to expand this well-developed network of local mountain bike trails, creating a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle for local residents and attracting new riders from across the province.

“The development of a robust trail network aligns with our mission of diversifying our tourism offerings, while promoting quality of life advantages in Sault Ste. Marie. Investments in our trail network is attracting a lot of attention, creating an attractive environment for tourists. We have noticed an increase in visitors from both the United States and Canada who specifically come to experience our trail network. By investing in bike infrastructure, we not only attract tourists, but also families considering relocation and are prioritizing the well-being of our residents.”

As cycle tourism gains popularity, the local bike community in Soo has plenty to relish with an extensive 80+ kilometre four-season mountain and fat bike trail network, a skills park, and newly upgraded multi-use pathways.
