This week’s Throwback Thursday is a look at the 1994 Downhill Ontario Cup Race at Boler Mountain.
The event was held at Boler Mountain, a well known ski hill near London, Ontario. Home to the 2001 Canada Summer Games Mountain Bike event, the downhill course is a dynamic and beautiful ride. You can relive the action from this fast-paced event thanks to a video from the OCA archives.
Aside from the great action, the video features Glenn Meeuwisse sharing his insights while doing a commentary of the action. Meeuwisse has been a huge part of the cycling community for decades. A certified cycling coach and former VP of High Performance at the Ontario Cycling Association, Glenn was also Provincial MTB Coach from 1991 to 1997, and National Team Manager for World Championships in 1995, 1996 and 1998. As the owner of Pulse Racing Meeuwisse has organized camps and races for cyclists of all ages and skill levels. As the organizer of events such as the Canada Cup and Canadian Championships, as well as Hardwood Wednesday Night Series, Epic 8-Hour events, Women’s 4-Hour MTB Relay among many other, Meeuwisse continues to have a huge impact on the cycling community.
