The Ontario Cycling Association is excited to announce that Mountain Bike will be part of the 2020 Ontario Summer Games. The Games, which take place every two (2) years, will take place July 30 – August 2 in London. This year the Games will host 19 different sports involving athletes from all parts of the province. The Mountain Bike component will take place at Boler Mountain, from which previously hosted the event in 2018, and will provide athletes with an exciting course and good viewing opportunities for coaches and fans. The multi-day competition will be open to qualifying athletes age 13-17 (competing in U16 and U18 categories) and feature a cross-country, eliminator, short track, and team relay component. Additional qualifying information will be made available shortly.
The Ontario Summer Games provide a valuable development opportunity along the athlete competition pathway. For many, the Ontario Games provides an athlete’s first exposure to a multi-sport competition inclusive of an opening ceremonies and athletes’ village style accommodations. We look forward to a great competition at this year’s Games and encourage all interested athletes and coaches to submit an application to participate.
