MTB Ontario Cup #4 Port Hope enjoys a new venue under sunny skies!

The fourth stop on the series is a fresh, brand new private venue just north of Port Hope! Camp
Shredders features an incredible atmosphere, with fantastic potential for one of the best and
most unique courses on the series. While lead up rain made for some delay’s, Mark and the
Shredders team pulled off a great day of riding. A work in progress, the course and venue will
see continued work for 2020 including some tweaks of the course. The camping and atmosphere were truly exceptional, and the features of a heavily
machine-made course really make this a special venue.

The Elite Men featured some fast riders, with Malcolm Barton of Shredders taking the win. Not
far behind, the wily veteran and namesake of AWI Racing took second, with another seasoned
pro, Matt Martindill of Outsiders Racing taking third. Unlike the previous two events, the Elite
Women’s race filled the podium, with Ruby West of Specialized – Ten speed Hero taking the
win. Sarah Fabbro of Trek Store CC took the second slot, while Kierstyn Hawke from the
hometown Shredders took third.

The Junior Expert races were won by Jocelyn Stel of Giant Toronto pb Liv, and Matthew Leliveld
of Hardwood Next Wave. Of note, was a win in Cadet Expert by the young phenom Ian Ackert
of Hardwood Next Wave. Racing up from Minime, he captured the fastest lap of the day
including all categories, in his fourth lap. We look forward to a seeing what the future brings
for Ian! The Scott fastest lap Cheque of $100 went to the fastest rider in the 11:45 timeslot, so
Andre Goulet had some funds for a nice gift for dad on Father’s Day!

The next stop on the Ontario Cup circuit is in 4 weeks time, a combined Canada Cup at
Horseshoe Resort. Look for a challenging course with hard climbs, and many rock features.
Also bring your swimsuit for hanging out by the beach!
