SUMMARY:City of St. Catharines Presents: HopOn Community Program
DESCRIPTION:The Town of St Catharines partners with Ontario Cycling to deliver a community program during June & July\, 2024. This program is directed for youth between the ages of 7-11. \nHopOn is a game-based activity program for youth to develop on-bike skills. This program was adopted by Cycling Canada from Cycling BC and is considered the “national standard” when teaching fundamental cycling skills. \nLed by trained instructors\, the program provides youth to participate in an inclusive & positive sports environment. With over 130 games & activities\, the HopOn curriculum has 5 levels of adaptability to meet the needs of the participants’ development stage. \nSkills that are practiced through this curriculum of game-based activities include but are not limited to helmet & bike check\, braking\, gearing\, ready position\, straight-line riding\, turning/cornering\, front-wheel lifts\, tilts & dismounts\, one-hand riding & partner riding. \nThe sessions utilize the newly renovated Tennis Courts at the Port Weller Community Centre\, and may also use the trails of Malcolmson Eco Park. \nParticipants must bring the following items: \n\nBicycle in working condition (ideally without training wheels)\nCSA approved bike helmet\nWater bottle\n\nRegistration

DESCRIPTION:Presented by MicroBrasserie Charlevoix\, the Quebec/Canada Cup XCC – XCO event takes place from June\n7 to 9 at Camping Le Genévrier\, just a few kilometers from downtown Baie-Saint-Paul. \nUCI regulations and CC-specific regulations will be enforced for all Canada Cup Categories. The FQSC MTB regulations will be enforced for all other categories. Valid UCI international licenses are required for U17 Expert\, U19 Expert and U23/Elite categories. Holders of UCI international licenses that do not bear a photograph will be required to present an approved and valid government photo ID in addition to their UCI license. \nThe series is open to all individual riders with a valid UCI license in the U17\, Junior and U23/Elite category. U17 and Junior riders must possess a UCI Racing License with the “Expert” ability designation\, or the highest available designation in their issuing province/territory/country.

DESCRIPTION:The Youth Road Development Series kicks into high gear starting June 8th. Ontario Cycling is pleased to partner with Attack Racing for the 2 Youth Road Development Series (YRDS). \nYRDS #1 will be held at the Ontario Police College on the Police Vehicle Operations course. It is a relatively technical 1.6km flat circuit with approximately 8 corners and the width of the course varies\, combining a wide start/finish straight with some narrow corners. YRDS #1 will consist of an Individual Time Trial\, Skills session and Criterium. \n\nRegistration for all YRDS is open to riders 8-18 years old.\nThe event is pre-registration only. Late entries will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If granted\, will have an additional fee of 50$.\nOut of Province riders must have a UCI license. DESCRIPTION:The Ontario Cup (OCup) Road Series has finally arrived and will kick into high gear starting April 21st. For the 2024 OCup Road Series\, Ontario Cycling will once again be partnering with Performance Driven Events for four OCups and Provincial Championships. \nA Belgian-style Kermesse\, ideally situated in southwestern Ontario\, the course is just over 15km in length with 114 meters of climbing per lap. The roads themselves will have you thinking you’re riding through the European countryside as you twist and turn through Brant County. Intersections will be controlled by the Hamilton Police Service and medical coverage will be supplied by Odyssey Medical. \n\nRegistration for all OCups is open to riders 15 years of age and older.\nThe event is pre-registration only. Late entries will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If granted\, will have an additional fee of 50.00$\nOut of Province riders must have a UCI license. Typical race duration is 40-60 minutes for most riders.  We create new courses every two weeks that differ tremendously in style and difficulty so whether you relish climbing\, flow trails\, or maximum speed there will undoubtedly by a few courses you love – and maybe some you hate! But it’s always fresh. No running the same course forever here! There is also a Mini-Me category that looks to minimize interaction between these youngest riders and the rest of the pack\, utilizes a course with lower cardiovascular and technical demands\, and produces a shorter race for kids under 13. Once they are ready\, however\, these young rippers are readily encouraged to step up to the Novice ranks.  Our courses are always clearly marked\, meticulously groomed\, and all technical obstacles are avoidable if your comfort or skill-level demand it.\n\nRegistration

SUMMARY:Valley Velo Cycling Club Present: HopOn Community Program
DESCRIPTION:Team Valley Velo is excited to announce it will partner with Ontario Cycling and deliver the Hop On Program in the Hamilton area for cycling youths. \nHopOn is a game-based program for youth to develop on-bike skills. This program was adopted by Cycling Canada from Cycling BC and is considered the “national standard” when teaching basic cycling skills to youth. The curriculum has 5 levels of adaptability to meet the needs of the participants’ skill level. Skills that are developed through this curriculum of game-based activities include but are not limited to helmet & bike check\, braking\, ready position\, turning/cornering\, front-wheel lifts\, tilts & dismounts\, one-hand riding & partner riding. \nTeam Valley Velo is a Hamilton based road and track racing team that develops cyclists in a positive environment using knowledgeable coaches and leads experienced in decades-long cycling rides and races. Team Valley Velo’s mission and vision to create supportive spaces and race opportunities for the long-term development of cyclists that strongly connectw with the aims of the Hop On program. \nThe program will run June 8\,11\, 17 and 25 in two-hour length after school sessions from 6:00-8:00pm. HopOn Instructor and Certified NCCP Facilitator\, Julia Farell will deliver the skills and fun games-based curriculum for 7-9 year old youths. \nThis program requires an Ontario Cycling Community Membership. \nRegistration
