GreenUP has previously piloted adventure-based camps and we are delighted to be offering a full season of camps where participants will learn bike handling skills using the Cycling Canada HopOn curriculum. \nHopOn is a games-based curriculum that helps riders of all abilities build their bike handling skills. Youth cyclists are taught to ride safely using the road system to the Pelham Community Pool and the Steve Bauer Trail. Campers will bike from the Meridian Community Centre to the pool for an afternoon of swimming. \nHopOn is a game-based activity program for youth to develop on-bike skills. This program was adopted by Cycling Canada from Cycling BC and is considered the “national standard” when teaching fundamental cycling skills. \nLed by trained instructors\, the program provides youth to participate in an inclusive & positive sports environment. SUMMARY:Township of Grey Highlands : HopOn Community Program
DESCRIPTION:The Township of Grey Highland partners with Ontario Cycling to deliver a community program during July 2024. This program is for youth between the ages of 7-9. \nHopOn is a game-based activity program for youth to develop on-bike skills. This program was adopted by Cycling Canada from Cycling BC and is considered the “national standard” when teaching fundamental cycling skills. \nLed by trained instructors\, the program provides youth to participate in an inclusive & positive sports environment. With over 130 games & activities\, the HopOn curriculum has 5 levels of adaptability to meet the needs of the participants’ development stage. \nSkills that are practiced through this curriculum of game-based activities include but are not limited to helmet & bike check\, braking\, gearing\, ready position\, straight-line riding\, turning/cornering\, front-wheel lifts\, tilts & dismounts\, one-hand riding & partner riding. DESCRIPTION:The Town of Pelham Bike Camp partners with Ontario Cycling to focus on safe cycling for fun and health. Campers with spend their morning learning bike safety and cycling skills. Youth cyclists are taught to ride safely using the road system to the Pelham Community Pool and the Steve Bauer Trail. Campers will bike from the Meridian Community Centre to the pool for an afternoon of swimming. \nHopOn is a game-based activity program for youth to develop on-bike skills. DESCRIPTION:The Youth Road Development Series (YRDS) kicked into high gear on June 8th\, Ontario Cycling has partnered with Attack Racing for 2 Youth Road Development Series. \nJoin us in St Marys on July 14th for the Stonetown Heritage Crit and the St. Marys Harvest festival. The harvest festival celebrates the cultures\, stories and histories that shape the past and present of St. Marys. The course consists of a relatively flat 700m circuit with two tight corners. The start/finish line is located in the straightway on the west side of Milt Dunnell Park. YDRS #2 will consist of a Time Trial event\, Chariot Race and Criterium. \n\nRegistration for all YDRS is open to riders aged 8-18 years old.\nThe event is pre-registration only. Late entries will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If granted\, will have an additional fee of 50$.\nOut of Province riders must have a UCI license. Licenses will not be sold on the day of the event and must be purchased in advance.\nRegistration for each YDRS will close on the Wednesday at 11:59pm before the event.\n\n\nRegistration\n\nTech Guide

This program was adopted by Cycling Canada from Cycling BC and is considered the “national standard” when teaching fundamental cycling skills. \nLed by trained instructors\, the program provides youth to participate in an inclusive & positive sports environment. With over 130 games & activities\, the HopOn curriculum has 5 levels of adaptability to meet the needs of the participants’ development stage. \nSkills that are practiced through this curriculum of game-based activities include but are not limited to helmet & bike check\, braking\, gearing\, ready position\, straight-line riding\, turning/cornering\, front-wheel lifts\, tilts & dismounts\, one-hand riding & partner riding. \nThe sessions utilize the newly renovated Tennis Courts at the Port Weller Community Centre\, and may also use the trails of Malcolmson Eco Park. \nParticipants must bring the following items: \n\nBicycle in working condition (ideally without training wheels)\nCSA approved bike helmet\nWater bottle\n\nRegistration
