DESCRIPTION:Nestled amidst the rugged landscape of Northern Ontario\, Sudbury is a hidden gem that offers breathtaking natural beauty and endless opportunities for outdoor adventure. Sudbury is a mountain biker’s paradise with over 300 freshwater lakes\, sprawling forests\, and stunning rock formations. \nThe second new course returning this season is the picturesque Walden Trails Park\, less than 20min outside of downtown Sudbury. Taking in the beautiful Canadian Shield on and off the race course\, this won’t be an event you will want to miss. Utilizing the naturally rocky terrain to its fullest advantage when designing the course\, the Walden Mountain Bike Club is excited to return to the Ontario Cup calendar since running back-to-back Canada Cup events in 2013 & 14. SUMMARY:Mountain Bike - Provincial Championships - Kelso Conversation Area
DESCRIPTION:The 2023 Provincial Championships will return to Kelso Conservation Area to cap off the end of a great summer of racing. Located in the GTA\, the Kelso Conservation Area provides an ideal framework for mountain bike events. Its unique terrain and spectacular scenery can challenge and inspire riders of all skill levels. The park’s trails offer a variety of terrains\, including rocky and technical singletrack\, fast and flowy descents\, and steep and punchy climbs. The area’s diverse landscape also features some of the most stunning vistas in the region\, including views of the Escarpment and the shimmering Kelso Lake. \nCome participate in what will surely be a memorable weekend of racing at Kelso once again. Located in the GTA within a 40min drive from downtown Toronto and the majority of cyclists within the province\, we hope to see one of the biggest fields of the season come out to celebrate the conclusion of the MTB season and the many provincial champions that will be crowned. Kelso has an extensive network of trails that is open to the public season-long and a wide range of trails for every ability level. Characterized by its steep climb up the escarpment/ski slopes during the winter and its dusty conditions\, it was a war of attrition when provincial championships were last held at Kelso in 2018. DESCRIPTION:You are invited to take part in a fun and informative series of fire-side chats with Canada’s National Team Coaches. Each session will feature a 30 minute interview hosted by the National Team Head Coach\, Dan Proulx. This will be followed by a 30 minute open discussion with the audience. This is a great opportunity to share ideas on how to progress to the World level at an optimal rate. This year’s series will have a technical and tactical focus. DESCRIPTION:Cycling Canada (CC) is seeking interest from coaches to participate in a NCCP Competition Development workshop\, scheduled to take place online in English and French. The course will be presented in English by Dan Proulx\, ChPC (Head Coach) and in French by Luc Arseneau\, ChPC and Yannick Bédard ChPC. As outlined in the memo on July 31\, the Competition Development program is changing\, and we will be pilot this beginning in January. \nCandidates must receive the recommendation of their Provincial or Territorial Association (P/TSO’s). The P/TSO’s are encouraged to prioritize coaches that are identified for the 2025 Canada Summer Games and that have taken some Multi-Sport Competition Development modules. The Multi-Sport modules are generally offered online by your Provincial Coaching Association.  \nRegistration:  \nEligible candidates must complete the application form (English or French) and make payment no later than January 8\, 2024. Candidates will receive confirmation as registration is received. \nSkills and Tactics Theory and Training to Race courses will be delivered every month in both English and French (minimum 5 participants required). If coaches are currently registered within the LMS they will receive a notification when any new course is added and can then register. \nContent Specific Training for Learning Facilitators\nAs we want to continue to build coaching capacity across the country\, Cycling Canada will be organizing a Content Specific Learning Facilitator Training on November 28 and 29 over Zoom lead by Paul Jurbala Master Coach Developer. Coach candidates must be a Community Trained or Comp-Intro Certified to take the training. Coaches will also have to take Make Ethical Decision (MED) and Learning Facilitator Core Training prior to attending. A French Core training will be delivered in the Spring of 2024\, more details to follow. \nPlease contact us if you need any assistance to identify what workshops your coaches need to complete in order to be certified or to take part at the Content Specific Learning Facilitator Training. \nWhat is a Learning Facilitator: Learning Facilitator is an experienced coach trained to develop\, support\, and challenge coaches in training.
