SUMMARY:Town of Pelham Presents: HopOn Bike Camp
DESCRIPTION:The Town of Pelham Bike Camp partners with Ontario Cycling to focus on safe cycling for fun and health. Campers with spend their morning learning bike safety and cycling skills. Youth cyclists are taught to ride safely using the road system to the Pelham Community Pool and the Steve Bauer Trail. Campers will bike from the Meridian Community Centre to the pool for an afternoon of swimming. \nHopOn is a game-based activity program for youth to develop on-bike skills. This program was adopted by Cycling Canada from Cycling BC and is considered the “national standard” when teaching fundamental cycling skills. \nLed by trained instructors\, the program provides youth to participate in an inclusive & positive sports environment. With over 130 games & activities\, the HopOn curriculum has 5 levels of adaptability to meet the needs of the participants development stage. \nSkills that are practiced through this curriculum of game-based activities include but not limited to: helmet & bike check\, braking\, gearing\, ready position\, straight-line riding\, turning/cornering\, front-wheel lifts\, tilts & dismounts\, one-hand riding & partner riding. \n*Campers must have a working bike and bike helmet Friday lunches are optional for a $10.00 fee. \nInstructor: Dawn Elliot \nRegistration
